Sri Lanka qualify for the Super 12

Sri Lanka registered 16 runs win over Netherlands, in 9th T20I of the T20I World Cup at the Geelong on Thursday. Sri Lanka Captain Dasun Shanaka won the coin toss and elected to bat first.

After winning the toss Sri Lanka had a solid start and made 36 runs partnership between Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka. Both Pathum Nissanka and Dhanajya de SIlva dismissed in two consecutive balls. After that Charith Asalanka joined with Kusal Mendis and made 60 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket. Charith Asalanka scored 31 runs. 34 runs later Bhanuka Rajapaksha dismissed for 19 runs. Kusal Mendis was the star with the bat for Sri Lanka today. He made 79 runs in 44 balls. Eventfully Sri Lanka pose 162 runs for lost of 6 wickets in their 20 overs.

In reply that Netherlands manage to score 146 runs for lost of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Sri Lanka bowlers kept things tight and put pressure on Netherlands. Max O’Dowd was the only successful batsman with an unbeaten 71 runs. Scott Edwards scored 21 runs. For Sri Lanka Wanindu Hasaranga claimed 3 wickets.
With that win Sri Lanka qualify for the Super 12 round with 4 points.
