Sri Lanka is in trouble in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup point table

Afghanistan’s A team registered an 11-run win over Sri Lanka’s A Team in the 6th match of the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup on Saturday. With that win, Afghanistan gained 2 points and clinched first place in Group A with 4 points.

Bangladesh A won by 8 wickets with 201 balls remaining against Oman A on Saturday. With that comfortable win, Bangladesh moved into 2nd place in Group A with 2 points and a healthy Net run rate.

At the end of six matches, Sri Lanka were in 3rd place in the point table with 2 points. Even though Bangladesh and Sri Lanka got the same points, Sri Lanka has a lower net run rate than Bangladesh.

The host nation is in a spot of trouble with one match left in the group stage against the Oman A team. It will be a must-win game for Sri Lanka A, and they have to win it with a big margin to surpass Bangladesh A in the point table to qualify for the semi-final of the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023.
