Sri Lanka gain crucial point against Scotland

Sri Lanka registered an 82-run win over Scotland in the 19th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 on Tuesday at Bulawayo. Scotland captain Richie Berrington won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Sri Lanka was bowled out for 245 runs in 49.3 overs. Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer with 75 runs, and Charith Asalanka scored 63 runs. Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 26 runs, while Dhananjaya de Silva contributed 23 runs. At one stage, Sri Lanka were 203 for 4 wickets, and suddenly, Sri Lanka’s middle order collapsed and lost 3 wickets in quick succession. For Scotland, Chris Greaves claimed four wickets, while Mark Watt took three.

In reply, Scotland bundled out for 163 runs in 29 overs. Christopher McBride scored 29 runs, and Mark Watt scored 14 runs. Chris Greaves fought till the end and scored an unbeaten 56 runs, well supported by Chris Sole’s 17 runs. Both Chris Greaves and Chris Sole made 55-run partnerships for the 9th wicket. For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana claimed three wickets.
