Rangana Herath passed Chaminda Vaas

38 years old Sri Lanka’s main wicket-taking bowler in Tests Rangana Herath achieved a another milestone in his Test Career on the second day of the test match against South Africa at Cape Town. Rangana Herath took his 356th Test wicket and became second highest wicket taker for Sri Lanka after the great Muttiah Muralitharan with 800 wickets in Test Matches. He achieved this milestone when he dismissed Kyle Abbott in the South Africa first innings. Sri Lankan Legend Chamida Vass was the second in that list previously with 355 Test wickets.  Rangana Herath is the second quickest spinner ever to get 350 wickets in Test matches. Also he has passed Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee and became the 21st in highest wicket taker’s list.

After the retirement of Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan, Rangana Herath has filled that space. Rangana Herath has played 76 Test matches and he claimed 356 wickets in 139 innings. He has took 28 five wickets hauls in an Innings and 7 ten wickets hauls in Test matches. Also he hold the Record for the most Fifers taken in the fourth innings of Tests in least innings.

Rangana Herath need another 6 wickets to overtakes New Zealand Daniel Vettori and became the  2nd highest wicket takers among the all the left arm bowlers after Pakistan Wasim Akram (414).
