Pakistan nearly chase down a world record score
Asad Shafiq helped Pakistan to come closer at the Gabba, in 1st Test between Pakistan and Australia. Australian Captain Steven Smith won the coin Toss and elected to bat first.
After they won the toss Australia off to a solid start. Opening batsman Matt Renshaw made his maiden Test fifty and scored 71 runs. For Australia it was Steven Smith and Peter Handscomb who played brilliantly and made 172 runs partnership for the 4th Wicket. Australian skipper made his 16th Test hundred and scored 130 runs. Also young batsman Peter Handscomb made his maiden Test hundred and scored 105 runs. while in the bowling department, it was Mohammad Amir, who claimed four wickets. Finally Australian team all out for 429 runs in their 1st Innings.
In reply that Pakistan manage to score 142 runs and they all out within 55 overs. Pakistan Wicket Keeper Sarfraz Ahmed was the top scorer with 59 runs. Pakistan lost their first 8 wickets for just 67 runs. Mohammad Amir and Sarfraz Ahmed helped them to passed 100 runs in 1st Innings. while in the bowling department, it was Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Jackson Bird, who claimed three-wickets each
Australia stared their second innings 287 runs lead and they declared their second innings at the score of 202 for lost of 5 wickets. Usman Khawaja(74) and Steven Smith(63) made half -Centuries in Australian second Innings.Australian set a target of 489 runs for Pakistan to chasse.
Pakistan Team came out to chasse record target of 490 runs and they falls just 39 runs short. Azhar Ali(71) and Younis Khan(65) made fifties but they couldn’t made a big score. But the middle order batsman Asad Shafiq came out bat at number 6 and made brilliant hundred and fight till the end. He made his 10th Test Century and scored 137 runs. Once again it was Mitchell Starc who took 4 wickets in Pakistan 2nd Innings. However Pakistan fall 39 runs short and it clam 39 runs Victory for the Home side. Asad Shafiq named player of the match for his incredible 137 runs.
