October 13: Dilhara Fernando’s unforgettable bowling performance

On this day in 2007, Sri Lankan pacer Dilhara Fernando achieved his first five-wicket haul in ODI matches. He took six wickets for 27 runs against England at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Also, it was recorded as his best bowling figure as well.

On this day in 2017, Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dhananjaya scored his maiden half century in ODI matches and his highest score in ODIs. He came out to bat when Sri Lanka were at 108 for a loss of six wickets against Pakistan in Dubai. However, after that, he made a valuable contribution with the bat and added 24 runs in partnership with Thirimanne for the 7th wicket. After that, Aklia and Vandersay made a 68-run partnership for the eighth wicket. At the end of the match, Akila Dhananjaya stayed not out on 50.
