Mathews, Bhanuka, and Akila Dananjaya were brought back into the T20I side

Sri Lanka Cricket officially announced the preliminary squads for the upcoming two series against Zimbabwe. SLC made a huge change in their T20I side, and they named Wanindu Hasaranga as the captain of the T20I side, while Kusal Mendis was named as the ODI side. Charith Asalanka was named as the vice captain for both the T20I and ODI sides.

According to the announcement, 21 members of the preliminary ODI squad and 22 members of the preliminary T20I squad and the final squads for the both the ODI and T20I squad will be selected out of those preliminary squads for the home series against Zimbabwe. The three ODIs will be played on the 6th, 8th, and 11th of January at R. Premadasa Stadium.
