Sri Lanka had a fantastic start on the 1st day of the 1st Test match, scoring 305 runs for the loss of six wickets. Former Sri Lanka Test captain Angelo Mathews scored 47 runs today, reaching the 7,000-run milestone in Test matches. He is the third Sri Lankan to achieve that milestone. Also, he surpassed the Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya and became the 3rd highest run scorer for Sri Lanka.

Also, Sri Lankan legendry batsman Sanath Jayasuriya, who was in 3rd place in the highest run scorers list, tweeted and congratulated Angelo Mathews on becoming the third highest scorer in test cricket for Sri Lanka.
