On this day in 2006, Sri Lankan spinner Malinga Bandara made his debut in ODI matches. He played his maiden ODI match against New Zealand in Wellington. However, Malinga Bandara didn’t bowl a single over on his ODI debut.

On this day in 2009, Sri Lankan legend TM Dilshan became the 5th Sri Lankan to score a hundred in each innings of a Test match.
