India qualify for the Semi finals

India registered a comfortable 302-run win over Sri Lanka in the 33rd match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on Thursday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, India made a huge total and scored 357 runs for a loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. After the dismissal of Rohit Sharma in the very first over, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli made a 189-run partnership for the 2nd wicket and set the stage for the huge total. Shubman Gill was the top scorer with 92 runs, and Virat Kohli scored 88 runs. Shreyas Iyer contributed with 82 runs. For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka claimed five wickets.

In reply to that, Sri Lanka boudled out for 55 runs in 19.4 overs. Indian bowlers kept things tight and put pressure on Sri Lankan batters from the word go. Kasun Rajitha was the top scorer, while Angelo Mathews and Maheesh Theekshana contributed with 12 runs each. Other than that, no one was able to pass the double-figure mark. For India, Mohammed Shami claimed 5 wickets, and Mohammed Siraj chipped in with 3 wickets.

With that win, India became the first team to qualify for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Semi-Finals.
