England Women won the rain effected match

England women registered 12 runs in the DLS method over Sri Lanka in the rain-effected 1st T20I of the series on Thursday at County Ground in Hove. The match was reduced to 17 overs per side due to rain. Sri Lanka women’s captain Chamari Atapattu won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, England’s women scored 186 runs for the loss of four wickets in 17 overs. England got off to a flying start, and Danielle Wyatt and Maia Bouchier made 77 runs for the first wicket. Alice Capsey was the top scorer with 51 runs, and Danielle Wyatt scored 48 runs. 

In reply to that, Sri Lanka Women scored 55 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 6 overs until the match was called off due to rain. Nilakshi de Silva was the top scorer with 19 runs, and Chamari Athapaththu scored 15 runs. At the end of the play, Vishmi Gunaratne was not out on 17 runs.
