Dasun Shanaka saves Sri Lanka in the CWC qualifying warm-up match

Sri Lanka registered a three-wicket win over the Netherlands in the warm-up match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023 on Tuesday at Bulawayo. Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the coin toss and elected to bowl first.

After losing the toss, the Netherlands were bowled out for 214 runs in 45.3 overs. Saqib Zulfiqar was the top scorer for the Netherlands and scored 56 runs, and Teja Nidamanuru scored 41 runs. Skipper Scott Edwards contributed with 35 runs. For Sri Lanka, Kasun Rajitha claimed three wickets, while Dhananjaya de Silva and Maheesh Theekshana took two wickets each. Lahiru Kumara, Matheesha Pathirana, and Chamika Karunarathne claimed one wicket each. However, Sri Lankan star all rounder Wanindu Hasranga did not bowl today.

In reply, Sri Lanka chased down the target successfully and scored 215 runs for 7 wickets in 37.1 overs. Dimuth Karunaratne scored 47 runs, while Kusal Mendis contributed 27 runs. Charith Asalanka unfortunately ran out for 29 runs. Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka scored an unbeaten 67 runs and led the team to a victory. For the Netherlands, Clayton Floyd claimed two wickets.

Sri Lanka will play their next warm-up match against the USA on June 15 at Bulawayo.
