Chamari has been the best opener in women’s cricket – Kumar Sangakkara

Barbados Royals have recently picked Sri Lankan women’s team captain Chamari Athapaththu for the upcoming Women’s CPL. During an interview, the Rajasthan Royal’s director of cricket, Kumar Sangakkara, expressed his thoughts about the decision to pick Chamari Athapaththu.

“I don’t think it was a difficult decision. Chamari has been the best opener in women’s cricket for the last two years. She has been phenomenal, inspiring for Sri Lankan cricket, and has really made the Sri Lankan women’s team competitive internationally”. Kumar Sangakkara said.

“When we had the opportunity to sign Chamari, I think we had to work a little harder. I think there were a lot of offers on the table for her, and I’m glad she chose us,” Sangakkara added.
