Can Wanindu Hasaranga equal the 33-year-old record?

Sri Lankan super star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga took two consecutive five wickets in an innings during the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023. He claimed six wickets against the UAE and five against Oman in two consecutive matches. With that, he became the second Sri Lankan bowler to take consecutive wickets in ODIs and the first leggie to do so.

If Wanindu Hasaranga manages to pick up five wickets in his next match, he will be able to equal the record for most consecutive five wickets in an innings in ODI matches. Currently, former Pakistani Pacer Waqar Younis holds the record with three consecutive wickets in 1990. He took five wickets against New Zealand twice and the West Indies once.
