Back to back wins for Galle
Galle Marvels registered a 7-run win over Colombo Strikers in the 5th match of the Lanka Premier League, 2024, at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Colombo Strikers captain Thisara Pererawon the toss and opt to bowl first.
After losing the toss, the Galle Marvels were off to a flying start and scored 71 runs for the 1st wicket. Niroshan Dickwella scored 50 runs in 18 balls. However, after that, Galle lost the momentum and lost wickets at regular intervals. After that, Sahan Arachchige and Isuru Udana made a 79-run partnership for the 7th wicket. Sahan Arachchige scored 35 runs, and Isuru Udana scored 52 runs. Eventually, the Marvels bowled out for 179 runs in their 20 overs. For Colombo Strikers, Shadab Khan claimed 4 wickets while Binura Fernando chipped in with 3 wickets.
In reply to that, Colombo Strikers manage to score 172 runs for a loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 29 runs, while Glenn Phillips contributed with 26 runs. Dunith Wellalage fought hard till the end and scored 45 runs in 26 balls. For Galle Marvels, Maheesh Theekshana claimed 2 wickets for 20 runs.
