Australia registered a trilling win over New Zealand

Australia registered a trilling 5-run win over New Zealand in the 27th match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. New Zealand captain Tom Latham won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Australia put a huge total on the board. Australia got off to a flying start and made a 175-run partnership for the first wicket. Travis Head was the top scorer with 109 runs, and David Warner scored 81 runs. Glenn Maxwell contributed with 41 runs, and Josh Inglis scored 38 runs. At the back end of the inning, Pat Cummins smashed 37 runs. Eventually, Australia bowled out 388 runs in 49.2 overs. For New Zealand, Glenn Phillips claimed 3 wickets for 37 runs in his 10-over spell.

In reply to that, New Zealand scored 383 runs for a loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs. Rachin Ravindra battled hard and scored 116 runs, and Daryl Mitchell scored 54 runs. At the back end of the inning, James Neesham contributed with 58 runs and kept hopes alive. However, New Zealand felt just short of victory.
