Asela Gunaratne great find for Sri Lanka

30 years Old Asela Gunaratne showed his character through out the Test series and Tri Series in Zimbabwe. He made his Test Debut and ODI debut as an all rounder in this tour against Zimbabwe. Before he entered the International level he had brilliant First – Class record behind him with the bat and ball. Asela Gunaratne have scored 10 First – Class hundred with a double century and took 34 First – Class wickets.

Asela Gunaratne showed his batting ability in 2 Test matches against Zimbabwe. He scored 225 runs in four Innings with a average of 75. He made his maiden Test hundred and scored 116 runs in 2nd Test against Zimbabwe. In the 2nd Test he came out to bat when the Sri Lankan team in some trouble. Then Asela Gunaratne and Dhanajaya de Silva made 87 runs partnership for 6th wicket. After that he used his all First- Class experience and batted with the tail enders and  build good partnership with them.

Asela Gunaratne showed his bowling ability through out the Tri Series in Zimbabwe. He took 8 wickets in 4 innings in this series. Gunaratne took 3 wickets in twice in this Series.
