Angelo Mathews’s all-round performance helped Sri Lanka register a comfortable win

Sri Lanka registered a 72-run win over Afghanistan in the 2nd T20I on Monday at Dambulla. Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Sri Lanka scored 187 runs for a loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Pathum Nissanka scored 25 runs, and Kusal Mendis scored 23 runs. Sadeera Samarawickrama was the top scorer for Sri Lanka and scored 51 runs, while Angelo Mathews contributed with an unbeaten 42 runs in 22 balls.

In reply to that, Afghanistan bowled out 115 runs in 17 overs. Karim Janat was the top scorer with 28 runs, and Mohammad Nabi scored 27 runs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 13 runs. For Sri Lanka, Angelo Mathews, Wanindu Hasaranga, Binura Fernando, and Matheesha Pathirana claimed two wickets each.

With that win, Sri Lanka won the series with one match to spare.
