The downfall of Sri Lankan cricket in ICC tournaments
Sri Lanka is one of the finest teams in international cricket, with a great history. They have produced many world-class players over the years. Sri Lanka have proved that they are a competitive team when it comes to an ICC tournament.
They have become champions in three major ICC tournaments. Sri Lanka became the champions of the 1996 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and registered their name in the World of Cricket. Also, they shared the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002. In 2014, Sri Lanka cliched the title of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

After they became the Champions in the 2014 T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka was unable to reach even the semi-finals in any ICC tournament. Since 2019, the world situation has gotten even worse, and Sri Lanka could qualify for the T20 World Cup and Cricket World Cup correctly. Sri Lanka has to play the Qulifiers Round to secure their place in the T20 World Cup and Cricket World Cup. Hopefully, we won’t see Sri Lanka in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.
