England kept hopes alive for the Champions Trophy qualifications
England registered a 160-run win over the Netherlands in the 40th match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on Wednesday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bat first.
After winning the toss, England scored 339 runs for a loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs. Ben Stokes was the top scorer for England with 108 runs in 84 balls, and Dawid Malan scored 87 runs. At the back end of the inning, Chris Woakes scored 51 runs on 45 balls.
In reply to that, the Netherlands were bowled out for 179 runs in 37.2 overs. Wesley Barresi made 37 runs, while Scott Edwards made 38 runs. Teja Nidamanuru was the top scorer with an unbeaten 41 runs. The Netherlands lost their last four wickets within 16 runs. For England, Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid claimed three wickets each.
With that huge win, England moved up the point table and kept hopes alive for the ICC Champions Trophy qualifications.
