A huge win against Colombo puts Galle at number 2 in the points table
Galle Titans registered a comfortable 8-wicket win over Colombo Strikers in the 20th match of the Lanka Premier League 2023 on Tuesday at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Galle Titans captain Dasun Shanka won the toss and opted to bowl first.
After losing the toss, the Colombo Strikers were bundled out for 74 runs in 15.4 overs. Lahiru Udara and Nuwanidu Fernando scored 14 runs each. Nipun Dhananjaya scored 13 runs, while Mohammad Nawaz contributed 11 runs. Other than that, one is able to reach the double-figure mark. For the Galle Titans, Tabraiz Shamsi claimed four wickets, while Seekkuge Prasanna picked up three.
In reply to that, the Galle Titans chased down the target successfully and scored 75 runs for the loss of two wickets in 8.3 overs. Lasith Croospulle was the top scorer with an unbeaten 42 runs, and Shakib Al Hasan scored 17 runs.
With that big win, the Galle Titans registered 2nd place in the points table and qualified for the playoffs, while the Colombo Strikers were eliminated from the Lanka Premier League 2023. Galle Titans will face Dambulla Aura in the first qualifier match on August 17, while B-Love Kandy will take on Jaffna Kings in the eliminator.
