Angelo Mathews was dropped from the World Cup Qualifiers ?
The Sri Lankan news paper Daily News reported that Sri Lanka Cricket has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 in Zimbabwe. According to the report, Sri Lanka’s most experienced all-rounder, Angelo Mathews, was not included in the squad, and Sri Lankan Test captain Dimuth Karunarathne secured his place in the squad. Angelo Mathews played only one match in the series against Afghanistan, and he scored only 12 runs. Dimuth Karunarathne played all three matches and scored 112 runs, including two consecutive half centuries.
The report says that Dasun Shanaka was named captain of the side and Kusal Mendis was named vice captain. Sqaud was subjected to getting approval from the Sports Minister.
