Sri Lanka Cricket Announces 16-Member T20I Squad for West Indies Tour

Sri Lanka Cricket has officially announced the 16-member T20I squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, with senior wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis appointed as captain of the side. Promising all-rounder Kamindu Mendis has been named vice-captain.

The squad sees several notable changes, including the absence of express pacer Matheesha Pathirana, who has been ruled out after suffering an injury during the ongoing Indian Premier League season.

Meanwhile, star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga and fast bowler Nuwan Thushara have returned to the national setup after missing parts of the IPL due to NOC-related issues.

Sri Lanka have also strengthened their batting department by including Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara, Lasith Croospulle, and youngster Pavan Rathnayake in the squad.

The all-round department will feature experienced names such as Dasun Shanaka, Milan Rathnayake, Dunith Wellalage, and Wanindu Hasaranga.
Sri Lanka’s pace attack will be led by Dushmantha Chameera, alongside Dilshan Madushanka, Eshan Malinga, Binura Fernando, and Nuwan Thushara. Mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana will spearhead the spin department during the Caribbean tour.
