Over 650 Overseas Players Register for LPL 2026 Draft

The upcoming sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) has attracted massive international interest, with more than 650 overseas players registering for the tournament, Sri Lanka Cricket announced on Friday.

According to the official statement, players from 21 countries around the world have signed up for the 2026 edition of the tournament, highlighting the growing global appeal of the league.

Pakistan recorded the highest number of registrations with 102 players entering the draft pool. The West Indies followed with 75 players, while South Africa contributed 66 registrations. Bangladesh (48), New Zealand (41), Australia (24), England (15), and India (12) also featured prominently among the registered nations.
In addition, several players from Associate Member nations, including the United States and the United Arab Emirates, have also registered for the tournament.

All registered overseas players will now enter the official LPL Player Draft, which is scheduled to take place on June 1.

The sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League is set to be played from July 17 to August 8, with franchises expected to finalize their squads during the upcoming draft.

The LPL continues to establish itself as one of the premier T20 leagues in the region, attracting a strong mix of international stars and emerging talent from across the cricketing world
