Colombo win a nail-bitter over Kandy  

Colombo Strikers registered a 2 wicket win over Kandy Falcons in the 7th match of the Lanka Premier League, 2024, at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. Kandy Falcons captain Wanindu Hasaranga won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, the Colombo Strikers scored 199 runs for a loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Glenn Phillips was the top scorer with 70 runs in 43 balls, and Angelo Perera scored 38 runs. Shadab Khan contributed with 23 runs. For the Kandy Falcons, Dushmatha Chameera claimed 3 wickets.

In reply to that, the Kandy Falcons manage to score 197 runs for a loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. After the dismissal of Dinesh Chandimal, Andre Fletcher and Mohammad Haris made a 95-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Andre Fletcher scored 47 runs, and Muhammad Haris was the top scorer with 56 runs. Kamindu Mendis smashed 36 runs in 16 balls. Angelo Mathews tried hard, but unfortunately he couldn’t guide the team to a victory. Matthews scored 33 runs in 14 balls. For Colombo Strikers, Matheesha Pathirana claimed 4 wickets.
