USA registered their first win in T20 World Cup matches

The United States registered a 7-wicket win over Canada in the opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. United States captain Monank Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Canada made 194 runs and lost 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Navneet Dhaliwal and Aaron Johnson made a 43-run partnership for the first wicket. Navneet Dhaliwal was the top scorer with 61 runs. Nicholas Kirton and Navneet Dhaliwal made a 62-run partnership for the third wicket. Nicholas Kirton scored 51 runs. At the back end of the inning, Shreyas Movva smashed an unbeaten 32 runs in 16 balls.

In reply to that, the United States chased down the target successfully and scored 197 runs for a loss of 3 wickets in 17.4 overs. After losing the two wickets, Andries Gous and Aaron Jones made a 131-run partnership for the third wicket. Andries Gous scored 65 runs. Aaron Jones was the star with the bat and scored an unbeaten 94 runs in 40 balls.
