On this day in 2023, Sri Lankan former captain Dinesh Chandimal completed 5000 runs in Test matches. He achieved this milestone during the Test match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. With that, Chandimal became the 11th Sri Lankan player to achieve that milestone.
