Zimbabwe is getting closer to qualifying for the Cricket World Cup in 2023

Zimbabwe registered a 14-run win over Oman in the first match of the Super Six stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 on Thursday at Bulawayo. Oman captain Zeeshan Maqsood won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Zimbabwe scored 332 runs for 7 wickets in their 50 overs. Sean Williams made his third hundred in the tournament and scored 142 runs, helping Zimbabwe post a huge total on the board. Sikandar Raza scored 42 runs. Both Raza and Williams added 102 runs for the fourth wicket. Luke Jongwe contributed with 43 quick runs. For Oman, Fayyaz Butt claimed four wickets.

In reply, Oman came closer to the target, and they felt 14 runs short. They managed to score 318 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs. Kashyap Prajapati played a fighting knock and scored 103 runs, and Aqib Ilyas scored 45 runs. Ayaan Khan contributed 47 runs. At the back end of the innings, Mohammad Nadeem smashed an unbeaten 30 runs in 18 balls. For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chatara claimed three wickets each.
