Steve Smith has been cleared to play Test series against Sri Lanka

Steve Smith has been cleared to rejoin Australia’s Test squad and will travel to Dubai after passing a medical review for a right elbow injury sustained during a Big Bash League (BBL). Cricket Australia confirmed that Smith, who suffered the injury while fielding for the Sixers, will begin batting later in the week to prepare for the first Test series against Sri Lanka, which starts January 29. Smith will captain the team on the two-Test tour in Sri Lanka, as Pat Cummins remains sidelined.
