Sri Lanka extends the lead against the home side
At the end of the 2nd day of the 1st Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka led by 211 runs at Sylhet on Saturday.
Bangladesh started the day with 32 runs for a loss of 3 wickets. Sri Lankan bowlers kept things tight and put pressure on the Bangladesh batter. Eventually, Bangladesh bowled out 188 runs. Bangladesh Nightwatchman batter Taijul Islam was the top scorer with 47 runs. Litton Das scored 25 runs, while Khaled Ahmed contributed 22 runs. For Sri Lanka, Vishwa Fernando claimed 4 wickets, while Lahiru Kumara and Kasun Rajitha chipped in with 3 wickets each.
Sri Lanka started their second inning with a 92-run lead. However, Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals. Dimuth Karunaratne scored 52 runs, and Angelo Mathews scored 22 runs. At the end of the day, Sri Lanka managed to score 119 runs for a loss of five wickets. Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva on the crease with an unbeaten 23 runs and Nightwatchman Vishawa Fernando on the other end with 2 runs. Bangladesh debutant Nahid Rana claimed 2 wickets.
