Sri Lanka Clinch T20I Series with Commanding 8-Wicket Win Over Zimbabwe
Sri Lanka registered a commanding 8-wicket victory over Zimbabwe to seal the T20I series 2-1 at Harare on Sunday.
Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka won the toss and opted to bowl first. Zimbabwe responded with a competitive total, posting 191 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.
Tadiwanashe Marumani anchored the innings with a steady 51 runs, while Sean Williams (23 off 11), Sikandar Raza (28), and Ryan Burl (26 off 15) added valuable runs in the middle and late order. For Sri Lanka, Dushan Hemantha impressed with the ball, claiming 3 wickets, while Dushmantha Chameera picked up 2 wickets.
In reply, Sri Lanka made light work of the chase, reaching 193 for 2 in just 17.4 overs. Openers Kusal Mendis (30) and Pathum Nissanka (33) provided a solid start with a 58-run opening stand. After their dismissals, Kamil Mishara and Kusal Perera took charge, putting together a match-winning 117-run unbeaten partnership for the third wicket.
Mishara top-scored with a brilliant 73 not out, while Perera remained unbeaten on 46, guiding Sri Lanka to a comfortable series-clinching win.
With this triumph, Sri Lanka secured the T20I series 2-1, capping off a strong performance in Harare.
