South Africa sets a new record

South Africa registered 6 wickets win over West Indies in 2nd T20I of the series on Sunday at Centurion.  South Africa captain Aiden Markram won the coin toss and elected to bowl first. 

West Indies lost Brandon King as their first wicket in very first over of the match when the score at 2.  After that Kyle Mayers and Johnson Charles made magnificent 135 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket in quick time.  Kyle Mayers scored 51 runs in 27 balls.  Johnson Charles made 39 ball hundred and scored 118 runs with 10 fours and 11 sixes.  Rovman Powell contributed with 28 runs.  At the back end of the innings Romario Shepherd scored 41 runs in 18 balls.  Eventually, West Indies scored 258 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. It was their highest total in T20I matches and the highest total at SuperSport Park. 

South Africa openers came out bat to chase  a mamuth total set by the Windies.  Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks made 152 runs partnership for the 1st wicket and set the platform for the record chase.  Reeza Hendricks scored 68 runs. Quinton de Kock made his maiden T20I hundred.  Rilee Rossouw scored 16 runs in 4 balls with a four and 2 sixes.  Skipper Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen finish the game with an unbroken 43 runs partnership.  Aiden Markram scored an unbeaten 38 runs. South Africa chased down the target successfully and scored 259 runs for the loss of four wickets in 18.5 overs.

Its record as the highest successfully run chase in T20I matches and they break the record of highest total at SuperSport Park which was set by West Indies hour ago.
