September 06: Lasith Malinga’s four consecutive wickets

On This Day in 2001, Sri Lanka’s opening batter, Michael Vandort, made his debut in Test matches. He played his maiden Test match against Bangladesh at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo. He has played 20 Test matches and scored 1144 runs, including four hundreds.

On This Day in 2016, Sri Lankan all-rounder Sachith Pathirana made his debut in T20I matches. He played his maiden T20I match against Australia.

On  This Day in 2019, Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga took four wickets in four consecutive balls in T20I matches. He took the wickets of Colin Munro, Hamish Rutherford, Colin de Grandhomme, and Ross Taylor in consecutive 4 balls in his 2nd over against New Zealand at Pallekele.

On This Day in 2019, Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga became the first player to take 100 wickets in T20I matches. He took the wicket of Colin Munro as his 100th wicket. Malinga achieved that feat in his 76th match, and it was recorded as the 2nd fastest to get 100 wickets in T20I matches.
