Netherlands beats Bangladesh
The Netherlands registered a comfortable 87-run win over Bangladesh in the 28th match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Netherlands captain Scott Edwards won the toss and opted to bat first.
After winning the toss, the Netherlands bowled out 229 runs in their 50 overs. The Netherlands lost their top order cheaply. After a horrible start, skipper Scott Edwards rebuilt the innings with the low-order batters. Scott Edwards was the top scorer with 68 runs, and Wesley Barresi scored 41 runs. Sybrand Engelbrecht contributed 35 runs.
In reply to that, Bangladesh is all out for 142 runs in 42.2 overs. The Netherlands bowlers kept things tight and put pressure on Bangladesh from the get-go. Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals, and no one got going. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the top scorer with 35 runs. Mahmudullah and Mustafizur Rahman contributed 20 runs each. For the Netherlands, Paul van Meekeren claimed four wickets.
