Kohli and Rahul took the game away from Australia

India registered a six-wicket win over Australia in the fifth match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first.

After winning the toss, Australia bundled out 199 runs in 49.3 overs. After the dismissal of Mitchell Marsh, David Warner and Steven Smith made a 69-run partnership for the second wicket. Steven Smith was the top scorer for Australia with 46 runs, while David Warner scored 41 runs. Marnus Labuschagne contributed 27 runs. At the back end of the inning, Mitchell Starc added 28 valuable runs. For Australia, Ravindra Jadeja claimed three wickets.

In reply to that, India chased down the target successfully and scored 201 runs for a loss of 4 wickets in 41.2 overs. The Indians lost three wickets when the score was two. After that horrible start, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul made a 165-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Virat Kohli scored 85 runs, and KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 97 runs.
