Isitha Wijesundara Replaces Injured Lahiru Kumara in Sri Lanka Test Squad

Sri Lanka has been forced into a late change ahead of the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, with fast bowler Lahiru Kumara ruled out due to injury. In his place, bowling all-rounder Isitha Wijesundara has been drafted into the national Test squad.

Wijesundara brings solid domestic experience to the setup. The 27-year-old has played 44 first class matches while claiming 112 first-class wickets, including five five-wicket hauls, showcasing his ability to make breakthroughs with the ball. With the bat, he has added depth to the lower order, scoring 812 runs, which includes three half-centuries.

Beyond the field, Wijesundara holds a degree in Sports Science and Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is scheduled to begin on July 17 at the Galle International Stadium, marking the start of what promises to be a competitive series.
