Galle Marvels won a nail-biter over Jaffna

Galle Marvels registered a 5 wicket win over Jaffna Kings in the 3rd match of the Lanka Premier League, 2024, at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Jaffna Kings captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and opted to bat first.

After winning the toss, Jaffna Kings scored 177 runs for a loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. After the dismissal of Kusal Mendis, Avishka Fernando and Pathum Nissanka made an 81-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Avishka Fernando was the top scorer with 59 runs, while Pathum Nissanka scored 51 runs. Skipper Charith Asalanka smashed 33 runs in 15 balls. For Galle Marvels, Zahoor Khan claimed 3 wickets.

In reply to that, Galle Marvels chased down the target successfully in the last ball of the 20th over and scored 179 runs for a loss of 5 wickets. Galle were off to a solid start and made a 66-run partnership for the first wicket. Niroshan Dickwella scored 47 runs. Alex Hales was the top scorer with 65 runs. At the back end of the inning, Janith Liyanage scored 25 runs in 13 balls.
