December 15: High-scoring triller between Sri Lanka and India

On this day in 2009, Sri Lanka felt just 4 runs short of a victory when they chased down the target of 415 runs against India at Rajkot. India batted first and scored 414 runs for a loss of 7 wickets in their 50 overs. In reply to that, Sri Lanka managed to score 411 runs for a loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. With that, India registered a 3-run victory over Sri Lanka in a high-scoring trilling match.

On this day in 2009, Sri Lankan opening batsman TM Dilshan scored 160 runs against India when Sri Lanka chased down 415 runs at Rajkot. However, Sri Lanka fell four runs short of the victory. With that, TM Dilshan’s hundred was recorded as the highest individual score by a Sri Lankan batter in a match on the losing side.
