Dambulla Aura beats the Colombo Strikers at home

Dambulla Aura registered a 50-run win over Colombo Strikers in the 16th match of the Lanka Premier League 2023 on Saturday at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Dambulla Aura captain Kusal Mendis won the toss and opted to bat first.

After winning the toss, Dambulla Aura scored 166 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. After a horrible start, Ben McDermott and Alex Ross made a 102-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Alex Ross scored 52 runs, and Ben McDermott scored an unbeaten 69 runs in 46 balls.

In reply to that, the Colombo Strikers bowled out for 116 runs in 19.4 overs. Nuwanidu Fernando was the top scorer with 21 runs, and Mohammad Nawaz scored 20 runs. For Dambulla Aura, Hasan Ali claimed 3 wickets for 16 runs in his 4-over spell, while Binura Fernando,Noor Ahmad, and Dushan Hemantha chipped in with 2 wickets each.

With that win, Dambulla Aura moved up the table and qualified for the Lanka Premier League 2023 playoffs.
