Afghanistan registered a historical victory over Australia in the 48th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at the Arnos Vale Ground at St. Vincent on Saturday. Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Afghanistan is off to a solid start with a 118-run partnership for the first wicket. Ibrahim Zadran scored 51 runs, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 60 runs. Karim Janat contributed with 13 runs. Eventually, Afghanistan managed to score 148 runs for a loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. For Australia, Pat Cummins claimed 3 wickets, including a hat trick.

In reply to that, Australia bowled out for 127 runs in 19.2 overs. Glenn Maxwell was the only successful batter with 59 runs. Mitchell Marsh scored 12 runs and Marcus Stoinis scored 11 runs. Other than that, no one was able to reach the double-figure mark. For Afghanistan, Gulbadin Naib claimed 4 wickets while Naveen-ul-Haq chipped in with 3 wickets.
