WATCH: I hope to play the way I played in the last two games – Kusal Mendis
In the absence of the Sri Lankan skipper, the new captain of the team, Kusal Mendis, joined the pre-match press conference before the start of the match between Sri Lanka and Australia and expressed his thoughts about the match.
“I hope to play the way I played in the last two games. I have captained the side earlier, and I have also led the side in the World Cup warm-up match against Afghanistan.” Kusal Mendis talked about his new role on the team.
“Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka were always among the runs,” Kusal Mendis said. “Kusal Janith and Pathum Nissanka have two different roles in the team, and according to Kusal Janith’s role, we have to back him even though he failed in a few innings,” he extended his explanation about the two openers of Sri Lanka.
“I don’t think that we want another spinner because we have three main spinners. I hope that I can play the next match with these three.” Mendis said.
