Mitchell Starc Retires from T20Is to Focus on Tests and ODIs
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has officially announced his retirement from T20 International cricket in order to concentrate on the longer formats of the game.
Starc, who has been a vital part of Australia’s bowling attack across all formats, explained his decision by highlighting upcoming major commitments for the national team.
“Looking ahead to an away Indian Test tour, the Ashes and an ODI World Cup in 2027, I feel this is my best way forward to remain fresh, fit and at my best for those campaigns,” Starc said.
The left-arm pacer represented Australia in 65 T20I matches, claiming 79 wickets during his career in the shortest format. He played a key role in Australia’s success in T20 cricket, including their 2021 ICC T20 World Cup triumph.
With this decision, Starc will now fully dedicate his efforts to Test and ODI cricket.
