“WHITE FERNS” were destroyed by Ashleigh Gardner

Australia Women registered a 97-run win over New Zealand in the 3rd match of the Women’s T20 World Cup on Saturday at Paarl. New Zealand Women captain Sophie Devine won the coin toss and elected to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Australia made a huge target on the board. Australia lost Beth Mooney in the first over of the match. But Meg Lanning and Alyssa Healy made 70 runs and set the stage for the big total. Alyssa Healy led the way with 55 runs, while Meg Lanning scored 41. Ellyse Perry contributed with a quick 40 runs in 22 balls. Eventually, Australia made 173 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. For New Zealand, Amelia Kerr and Lea Tahuhu claimed three wickets each.

In response, the New Zealand women bowled them out for 76 runs in 14 overs. New Zealand hasn’t had a good start; they lost their top order cheaply. The Australian bowlers kept things tight and put pressure on New Zealand. Amelia Kerr was the top scorer for New Zealand and made 21 runs. Bernadine Bezuidenhout scored 14 runs. For Australia, Ashleigh Gardner claimed five wickets for just 12 runs.
