Syazrul Idrus records the best bowling figures in men’s T20Is

Malaysian right-arm Medium fast bowler Syazrul Idrus on Wednesday became the first man to take seven wickets (7/8) in T20 Internationals, and it was recorded as the Best figures in men’s T20I matches. He achieved the feat against China during the opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Asia Regional Qualifier B tournament at Kuala Lumpur.

Idras took all seven wickets by constantly swinging the ball towards the batters. The fast bowler broke Peter Aho’s record for the best bowling figures in men’s T20Is. Aho took six wickets for five runs against Sierra Leone in 2021 while playing for Nigeria.

A total of 12 bowlers have taken six wickets in men’s T20Is before, including India’s Deepak Chahar and Yuzvendra Chahal, Australia spinner Ashton Agar, and Sri Lanka spinner Ajantha Mendis, but the seven-wicket haul had never been recorded until Idras’ amazing effort.

A sensational bowling performance from Idras helped Malaysia register a resounding eight-wicket win over China.
