Sri Lanka complete their sixth Hat-Trick while Bangladesh have been victims of hat-tricks for the Sixth time

Sri Lanka registered a 28-run win over Bangladesh in the 3rd and final T20I of the series at Sylhet. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 174 runs for a loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. In reply to that, Bangladesh bowled out 146 runs in 19.4 overs. With that, Sri Lanka clinched the series.

During the 4th over of the Bangladesh innings, Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara took a hat-trick and became the 6th Sri Lankan to do that. He took the wickets of Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, and Mahmudullah in three consecutive balls. Thushara completed his four-over spell with five wickets for 20 runs.
Previously, Thisara Perera, Akila Dananjaya, and Wanindu Hasaranga claimed hat-tricks each, while Sri Lankan great Lasith Malinga took two hat-tricks. Its recorded as most hat-tricks by a team in T20I matches. Also, Sri Lanka has the most hat-tricks in ODI matches as well.

An interesting fact is that most of Sri Lanka’s hat-tricks came against Bangladesh in white-ball cricket.

Also, this is the 6th time that Bangladesh players have been victims of hat-tricks. Sri Lanka and Australia took two hat-tricks against Bangladesh, while India and Afghanistan took one hat-trick each against Bangladesh.
