South Africa through to the final
South Africa Women registered a 6-run win over England Women in the 2nd Semifinal of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 on Friday at Cape Town. South Africa women’s captain Sune Luus won the coin toss and elected to bat first.
After winning the toss, South Africa posted 164 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Tazmin Brits was the top scorer with 68 runs, while Laura Wolvaardt scored 53 runs. Both Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits added 96 runs for the first wicket. Marizanne Kapp played a cameo with an unbeaten 27 runs. For England, Sophie Ecclestone claimed three wickets.
In response, England Women scored 158 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. England had a solid start and made 53 runs for the first wicket. Nat Sciver-Brunt was the top scorer with 40 runs. Danielle Wyatt scored 34 runs. For South Africa, Ayabonga Khaka claimed 4 wickets while Shabnim Ismail took 3 wickets.
With that win, South Africa qualifies for the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.
