RCB clinched their first ever WPL trophy

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women registered an 8-wicket win over Delhi Capitals Women in the final of the Women’s Premier League 2024 in Delhi on Sunday. Delhi Capitals women’s team captain, Meg Lanning won the toss and opted to bat first.

After winning the toss, the Delhi Capitals women’s team bowled out 113 runs in 18.3 overs. The Delhi Capitals were off to a flying start and made a 64-run partnership for the first wicket. Shafali Verma scored 44 runs in 27 balls, and Meg Lanning scored 23 runs. However, after that, Delhi lost momentum, and they lost wickets at regular intervals. For Bangalore, Shreyanka Patil claimed 4 wickets, while Sophie Molineux chipped in with 3 wickets.

In reply to that, the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women team were off to a solid start, and they added 49 runs for the first wicket. Sophie Devine scored 32 runs, and Smriti Mandhana made 31 runs. Ellyse Perry scored an unbeaten 35 runs and guided the team to a victory. Eventually, the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women team chased down the target successfully and scored 115 runs for a loss of 2 wickets in 19.3 overs.

With that, the Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team clinched their first ever Women’s Premier League trophy.
