Nishan Madushka second youngest Sri Lankan to score a Test double hundred
Sri Lanka scored 704 runs for the loss of three wickets in reply to Ireland’s 492 runs in their first innings. Nishan Madushka and Kusal Mendis both struck their first Test double hundreds, while Dimuth Karunarathne and Angelo Mathews also contributed with hundreds.
23-year-old Nishan Madushka became the second youngest Sri Lankan to reach a Test double hundred after converting his maiden Test hundred into a double hundred. He scored 205 and was dismissed in the third over after lunch on day 4.
Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene holds the record for the youngest Sri Lankan to score a Test double hundred. He scored his maiden Test double hundred when he was 21 years old. He scored 242 runs against India at the SSC in 1999. It helped Sri Lanka score 485 runs in the first inning against India.
