New Zealand lead the T20 series
New Zealand registered a 21-run win over India in the 1st T20I of the series on Friday at Ranchi. India captain Hardik Pandya won the coin toss and elected to bowl first.
New Zealand has a good fighting score on the board after losing the toss. The Kiwis had a solid start with 43 runs for the first wicket between Finn Allen and Devon Conway. Finn Allen made 35 runs in 23 balls. After the dismissal of Finn, Mark Chapman came out to bat, and he went for a duck. Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway then put on a 60-run stand for the third wicket before Glenn Phillips was caught for 17 runs.36 runs later, a well-set Devon Conway was dismissed for 52 runs. After that, New Zealand lost two wickets in quick succession. However, Daryl Mitchell played a little cameo of an inning and scored an unbeaten 59 runs with four fours and five sixes. In reply, India managed to score 155 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. India hasn’t had a good start. They lost their top order cheaply. After a horrible start, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya made 68 runs together and kept India’s hopes alive. Suryakumar Yadav scored 47 runs, and Hardik Pandya scored 21 runs. After that, India lost their way and lost wickets at regular intervals. However, Washington Sundar played some big shots and made 50 runs, but he wasn’t able to seal their team’s victory. For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner claimed two wickets for just 11 runs.
