Namibia won the “Super Over” in a nail-biting low-scoring thriller

Namibia won the Super Over after the match was tied against Oman in the 3rd match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval in Barbados. Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Oman was bowled out for 109 runs in 19.4 overs. Oman lost two wickets in the 1st and 2nd balls of the very first over. After that, Oman lost wickets at regular intervals. However, Khalid Kail scored a valuable 34 runs, and Zeeshan Maqsood scored 22 runs. Ayaan Khan contributed 15 runs. For Namibia, Ruben Trumpelmann claimed 4 wickets, while David Wiese chipped in with 3 wickets.

In reply to that, Namibia managed to score 109 runs for a loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. After the dismissal of Michael van Lingen in the first over, Nikolaas Davin and Jan Frylinck made a 42-run partnership for the second wicket. Nikolas Davin scored 24 runs. 31 runs later, Gerhard Erasmus went out for 13 runs. However, after that, Namibia lost momentum, and the Oman bowlers put the pressure on Namibia. Jan Frylinck was dismissed for 45 runs. Mehran Khan bowled a brilliant last over, took 2 wickets, and gave away only 4 runs.

After the match was tied, Namibia batted first in the super over and scored 21 runs. In reply to that, Oman managed to score 10 runs for a loss of 1 wicket. With that, Namibia won the super over and registered their first win in the T20 World Cup 2024.
